Buried pipelines face considerable risks due to third-party interference, with intensive agricultural practices and land cultivation causing changes in soil cover and jeopardizing pipeline safety. To address this issue, pipeline operators often rely on traditional pipe locators to map assets and establish Depth of Cover (DoC). However, this approach is not only expensive and time-consuming, but also lacks accuracy. Both traditional pipe locators and ground-penetrating radars are insufficient in providing comprehensive data necessary for effective accident prevention and optimized planning. As a result, a solution capable of delivering continuous, precise depth information with minimal measurement uncertainty is in high demand.
