ADVANCED 3D MAPPING
A SERVICE DESIGNED TO REVEICE 3D POSTION DATA FOR EVERY 1 CM OF PIPELINE
Due to increasingly effective measurement planning on pipelines and the enforcement of stricter regulations for pipeline operators, it is becoming significantly more important to know the exact and current XZY position of buried pipelines at each location. This is not only due to the fact that pipelines change their position over the years due to earth and soil movements, but often also due to incomplete documentation of the pipe position. Currently used standard methods either do not have a sufficient accuracy in the determination of the pipe position or they only allow a point-by-point determination of the absolute position of the pipe. For this reason, they do not allow the determination of the pipe geometry, the bend radii and angles and are only conditionally suitable for the creation of an up-to-date, seamless documentation of the pipeline.
To overcome these challenges, EMPIT offers pipeline operators a solution through Current Magnetometry Inspection (CMI) - a non-contact magnetic survey that enables precise mapping of pipeline geometry from the surface of the earth. By using CMI, operators have the benefit of updated and seamless documentation of their buried assets that not only meets current standards, but far exceeds them.
Without any interruption in service, EMPIT provides highly accurate documentation of the pipeline's 3D position, which in addition to absolute position also allows accurate mapping of vertical and horizontal bends from an angle of one degree. Our customers use this service to significantly improve the data situation of their assets and thus save costs for the planning of measures as well as to protect themselves in the best possible way in disputes with third parties by using the most modern surveying technology.
