Lack of proper pipeline integrity management strategy leads to pipe wall failure and product leakage into the environment. This has been widely observed with unpiggable pipelines since early detection through In-Line-Inspections (ILI) is not possible resulting in the need for external leak monitoring. This is being done through various methods ranging from Thermal Analysis to Acoustic emission detecting, all of which are lengthy and timeconsuming processes.
CMI serves as an innovative method that simplifies the process through a swift system set up and air-based execution. The drone flies directly over the pipe centerline enabling detection of even the smallest gas leakages through the onboard gas sensor. At the same time, it collects data that can be further analyzed to outline pipelines integrity state and prevent further leakages.
